What Garmin/Magellan GPS handheld is the best?

Do I HAVE to buy a map? And also, are they worldwide usable?

1. I prefer Garmin over Magellan (but this is like the old which is better? Chevy or Ford? debate) I use the Garmin iQue 3600(from eBay) the map CD comes with it but you need to buy a SD card to put the maps on--I recommend a 2 GB SD card (that way you have room for music and mp3 songs). My maps are for the US. You can buy maps for Europe. Not sure about other continents. I would encourage you check out Garmin and Magellan websites to look at their maps.
