Handheld GPS ??
I do a lot of hunting in remote areas, I hunt with dogs and they often chase scents well ahead of me. Is there a way one of these handheld GPS's can be set up to track dogs??

- Brilliant idea - unfortunately I do not know
- lol why dont you invent one REVHEAD & you may get rich!! xx that could be your light bulb moment for you ☺♥ Rev there's handheld ones already dont know if they follow scent!! though :) xx
- Why don't you get one of these 'child-tracker' systems and fix it to their collars? You can buy em on the internet and you can pinpoint the signal transmitted by the chip on the collar? I think I'll fix one to my husband, he goes hunting deer in Margam Park and lamping up the mountain...At least, that's what he SAYS! Lying bugger, I bet he's tracking woodpecker down the pub..
- No. The hand helds do not transmit their location and they cannot receive locations of other units. There are GPS tracking devices that transmitt their signal to a central location so that you can get that information via a cell phone or web browser. I don't have information on the child locators but there may be some that just send a local signal that you can track via a hand held device that just points you in the right direction. Similar units used to be used for vehicle tracking and surveilance before the GPS based units were available.
