What GPS handheld would be best for a beginner?
I was thinking the garmin 60, explorist 250or300.

- That really depends on your needs. I have a Garmin etrex that costs around $100. It's rather basic as it will get you in and out of the woods without getting you lost and is rather simple to use. More expensive models can do a lot more and you might want to consider, but this particular model suits my current needs. It will mark your tracks and show you the route to a previously "marked" location. Maybe somebody else can offer some insight to the models you mentioned as I'm not familiar with them. Good luck.
- Magellan Gold
- the inexpensive garmin etrex is fantastic for begginers and more experienced. also look on ebay you can get some fantastic deals on used gps. I just bought a nice used garmin for 25.00 for my nephew.
- Simply said it would be Garmin 60cx...worth the money
- I have the explorist 500 and I really love it. Pretty simple to use. I bought mine right after the 600 came out so there was a 150 dollar rebate on their website. Sweet deal.
- I have a Magellan Meridian Colour. Use it for hunting, boating and hiking. You can load maps into it by an SD Card. I love it.
