Magellan Handheld GPS Questions

Where can I get map software (Australia) for a Magellan handheld GPS? My husband has a Magellan handheld GPS. He is having trouble getting suitable map software for motorbike riding in the Victorian State Forrest. He needs to have bush tracks, creeks, rivers and location of mountains etc. Any ideas of where to look would be great. We don't mind buying it.
What Garmin/Magellan GPS handheld is the best? Do I HAVE to buy a map? And also, are they worldwide usable?
which is better a garmin handheld or a magellan handheld? I am looking into buying a relatively cheap handheld gps for geocaching, boating, hiking, and hunting. If i get a magellan it will either be the explorist 210 or the 500le if i go with garmin it will be the etrex legend, or the etrex legend hcx. What do you guys think?

Magellan Triton 300 GPS? Where do I get maps for the Magellan Triton 300 handheld GPS? Are there any free maps out there? Im not looking for turn by turn. I wanted this unit for a hiking novelty toy..
Need info on purchasing a handheld GPS which is applicable for aviation and finding my way out of the woods... I have checked out Garmin, Lowrance, and Magellan. Lowrance has the Airmap 600c which is the closest for aviation purposes, and price range, but I couldn't get any good info for the terrestrial use, if it even has any, for that particular model. I also checked out the Garmin 96c. The Lowrance seems to have more for less. Could never get through the Lowrance phone line to talk to an actual person. As a student GA pilot, I am interested in a handheld model that would serve me in the air, as well as if I had to ditch in an unknown area such as a forest, etc, and lived to walk my way out! Just trying to find a model that has the best of both applications. Want to stay within the 300-500. dollar range. Can be flexible within 100 dollars more if necessary. Any suggestions?
What is the better GPS? Is the Garmin eTrex Legend or Magellan Triton 300? I’d like to buy a handheld GPS and I have doubts about this models. Which has the best technical support? And about downloads of maps of the world? Thank you for your help.
garmin vs. magellan gps? I'm looking to buy a handheld GPS, but would like to find out who makes the better system. I will be using it for hunting, hiking, fishing, and traveling in car. Any help would be appreciated.
Does anyone know how you get more detailed maps in the Magellan eXplorist XL GPS? I want to get my son a handheld GPS for Christmas so he will have maps when he travels in the Military but the unit I am testing only has my region loaded in it. It won't help him one bit to have Oregon maps if he's stationed somewhere else (which he will be). I don't know anything about adding maps into the units. I am sure it's as easy as hooking up a cable but: Where do you get the maps to begin with? Is there a download site? Do you have to buy the maps? Where would you buy them? How much would they cost? Would they have detailed maps of countries such as Iraq (because I know he will end up there eventually)? Thanks
What is a good handheld GPS for around $200.? I was really looking at the Magellan Explorist 500. If anyone has a thought on this please let me know.
How do I find a detailed Philippine Map for my Magellan eXplorist 500LE? I need help looking a Philippine Map for my Magellan eXplorist 500LE unit. All the Mapsend softwares offer maps for USA, Canada or Europe, but none for the Philippines. When we go fishing and we're in the middle of the sea, I'd like to be able to pinpoint exactly where I am and know the surrounding islands around me. Where can I find a Philippine map for my handheld GPS? Also, how do I upload it in my unit? Thanks so much.
Old GPS unit no longer receiving WAAS signal? I bought the Magellan SporTrak Map handheld GPS over 4 years ago and back then it worked great. Now, I have dusted it off and have been trying to use it again but I can not obtain WAAS. I have downloaded the latest firmware 5.34 from 2004, re-initalized it multiple times and spent many hours (and batteries) trying to get WAAS (I can pick up all of the other satellites but no waas. The unit does say that it is WAAS enabled. I've read that the WAAS satellites changed back in the fall of 2006. I guess my unit can't read the new satellite? I've have read the manual from cover to cover and still nothing in there to get it to work properly.Magellan will no longer support my unit and I can't get any help from them. any ideas? I'd rather not buy a new unit if I can help it. Thanks!
What is the most hackable GPS? I recently bought a handheld GPS reciever to keep track of where I had gone exploring on my bike. It's a Magellan Explorist 500. I bought it second-hand though, so it didn't come with any software. Its usable to find your speed, the direction in which you are traveling and such but without buying at least $50.00 is software, with maps that you can load on the device but which become useless when you buy a new model, it doesn't show you were you are in any great detail. What I am wishing for, is a GPS that can use open-source, hacked or hackable software, so that I can create my own maps, and not be suckered into a cycle of dependency on electronic devices with a planned obsolescence. I think the size, housing and sensitivity of the Explorist 500 is good. Its waterproof, accurate and easy to use to input your own labels, its screen can be read easily in the sunlight. My only complain about it is the battery life. I also want something that can easily be mounted on bicycle handlebars
Where are they selling this cellphone?? Magellan Triton 2000 Handheld GPS cellphone? Spint? T-Mobile? Cingular? Verizon? Lol! My bad =D
Need info on purchasing a handheld GPS which is applicable for aviation, and finding my way out of the woods.. I asked this question in another forum, but didn't get a satisfactory answer. I have checked out Garmin, Lowrance, and Magellan. Lowrance has the Airmap 600C, which is the closest for aviation purposes, and price range, but I couldn't get any good info for its' terrestrial use, if it even has any, for that particular model. Could never get through the Lowrance phone line to talk to a customer service rep, after 2 weeks of trying, but was always put on an indefinite automated hold! I also checked out the Garmin 96C. The Lowrance seems to have more for less. As a student GA(general aviation) pilot, I am interested in a handheld unit that would serve me in the air, as well as if I had to ditch in a forrest, or unknown area, etc,and lived to walk my way out! Just trying to find a unit that has the best of both aviation and terrestrial applications. Want to stay within the 300-500 dollar range. Can be flexible within a 100 dollars more if necessary. Any good suggestions?
Which handheld gps would be best? I would like to buy one of the following: a Magellan eXplorist 200, 210, 400, or 500LE or the Garmin eTrex Legend, or another one that is good for under $200 I've read a lot of reviews about them, but am still confused. A lot of reviews say one thing, and then the opposite on another site. I want to get one for my mother, so I would like to get one that is easy to use, durable and is good to use for geo caching, hiking and rock hounding. Any advice on what ones are best for these types of activities and how their customer service and support are would be welcome. Thanks.
